Spearfish Canyon Beauty and a Surprise!

After a couple of weekends on call and resting during some rainy weather, team Rybo got to go on another adventure yesterday!
We hopped in the car and headed northwest to check out beautiful Spearfish Canyon scenic byway.

Let me just say, this place did not disappoint!

Here are some pics from our trip:

And now for our surprise: Team Rybo is engaged as of 04/25/15 !!

It's been a fantastic weekend for team Rybo! We love being here in South Dakota!

Work and Painting the Town

Big News

Ryan and I have been offered an extension to our contracts!!! As we had hoped, we have been able to pick up on things quickly in the department and help out with their staffing situation. We get along wonderfully with the staff and things have been falling into place nicely at work, for all of us. We are flattered and thankful for the offer...so we decided to take it! Our first contract will be up in June, so we are thankful and blessed to be able to stay here until September!
We will be flying home to TN for a week in June, so that we can see our families and loved ones for a few days.
Here is a song that Ryan thinks fits our situation here perfectly:

Work

Both Ryan and myself have been taking a few days of call this past week, which is why there haven't been any fun pics of us exploring SD.  We are very thankful for the extra hours on our paychecks but the only drawback to call is that it can mess with your sleep schedule a bit! The past couple of days we've been trying to catch up on some much needed sleep.

Relaxing

Today has been a fantastic day! We got to sleep in until 8:30, lazily sip on coffee for a couple of hours and then we went to get a massage! Ryan and I have been making some lifestyle changes which include healthier eating as well as exercise. Needless to say, we've been a tad sore this week from starting our exercise programs. We were referred to a quaint massage business located in Mount Rushmore Mall called Lotus Massage. The ladies there have a fantastic style of both deep tissue massage with a tad bit of chiropractic realignment techniques.
After our fantastic massages, we at a great restaurant called Fuji Sushi and Sake Bar. Ryan and I both got a delicious bento box for lunch, complete with yummy seaweed salad and sushi.

Getting Artsy

We had a fantastic date night at Canvas 2 Paint! We haven't had this much fun in awhile! So many friendly and funny people attended our class tonight. We listened to great music, shared quite a few laughs and got to drink an adult beverage as we painted our travel themed paintings.
Here are some pics from our class tonight:

Working and Getting Healthier

This past week at work has been great! We are still loving the hospital and staff that we are blessed to work with. I love coming to work and being greeted by smiling faces!

Ryan works a standard 0630-1500 shift and I have been working varying shifts. For the most part I work 0630-1500 but once or twice a week, I work an off shift (0830-1700 and 1030-1900.) I like the variety in shifts because it keeps things interesting.
Ryan and I have also been taking call this past week, which is why there haven't been any exciting photos of new local exploration posted for this week.
Mostly this week, we've been working at the hospital and working on our health.
Being able to travel has allowed us to see and experience some amazing things but it has also inspired us to live a healthier lifestyle.

Healthier Living

Ryan and I are both in our early 30's and we have decided to make permanent lifestyle changes to help us continue feeling great in our 30's and well into our 40's and hopefully beyond!
We've opted for cooking more at home, eating more greens and cutting out starchy carbs/sugars.
We allow ourselves one day or meal per week in which we eat what we want (so we don't feel deprived) Also, upping water intake, taking more vitamin/mineral supplements and of course adding exercise.  We are thrilled with the results so far, as we both have a lot more energy, not to mention that our clothes are starting to get baggy on us! We're trying to ease into the exercise regimen because I have a bit of achilles tendonitis in my foot and Ryan has some inflammation in his knee.
It's amazing what a change in scenery will inspire you to do with your life!

Date Night

Next week, Ryan and I are attending a 'Date Night' canvas painting class at a local art/craft store called Canvas 2 Paint. Here is a link to Canvas 2 Paint
The painting theme is appropriately named "Happy Trails". This is perfect for our travel theme. Here is a pic of the painting we will be working on next week:

Of course...we will have to add orange and put 'Rybo' somewhere in the paintings....

Next On Our List

We've been getting a lot of positive feedback on various hiking trails in the area. So within the next week, we are going to explore some more of the town and hike to local waterfalls and mountain peaks. (you can be assured that there will be LOTS of photos taken)
Spearfish Canyon has been the place we've heard a LOT about.

Team Rybo T-Shirts!!!

Just for fun, Ryan and I designed 'Team Rybo' t-shirts. We are proud to be travel healthcare workers from East Tennessee and we want to show off these cool shirts!
Below is the link, if you would like to purchase a shirt. With tax and everything it's around $15. The shirts will only be printed if we can get a total of 45 shirt orders. This is not for profit...just for fun!
