Why Travel??

Why travel?
Making the decision to travel was not an easy one for Ryan and myself.
It's not easy being so far away from family, friends and the familiar life we have grown so accustomed to.
Ryan and I made the decision to travel together to accomplish 3 specific goals:
1) Help pay off our debt, so that we can eventually settle down and get married
2) See new places and faces (have an adventure)
3) Expand our experiences in our individual health specialties.
Ryan is a seasoned traveler, as he has traveled for two years and done 2 assignments. I, on the other hand, am brand new to the traveling experience.
A LITTLE BACKGROUND
Ryan and I met in August of 2014 at his 2nd travel assignment, and my first job as a cardiac nurse.
By the grace of God, we discovered a strong love and friendship between us, within a very short amount of time. Needless to say, the thought of not being together did not sit well with either of us. *which is why we decided to travel together*
THE PROCESS
There are many opportunities across the nation for thousands of travel jobs in the healthcare field. Apparently finding a job as a travel healthcare professional is pretty easy if you are by yourself but not so much if you are traveling as a couple...we found that out quickly.
For the past month, Ryan and I have applied to several travel companies in hopes of finding a travel opportunity somewhat close to home. We started to get frustrated after week 3-either a job had a need for a nurse or a scrub tech *but not both*. Another obstable is that you cannot submit for a job too far in advance, especially if you are currently in a separate assignment or are working on staff elsewhere. Most places want someone within a 2 week starting period. (which can cause a bit of anxiety, due to the impending deadline of needing another job)
After many failed attempts at submitting to jobs and not getting interviews, we finally had one come through this past Friday. I know God worked it out for us because neither of us had to struggle to get this job. If there is one thing I've learned over the years, it's that if God wants something to happen, it happens without us having to struggle. Don't get me wrong, we still had to do our part but we were waiting on God to show us which job He wanted us to have.
In less than 2 weeks, Ryan and I will be embarking on our first adventure together to the beautiful state of South Dakota. Although this job isn't close to home at all, we are excited to see what this place has in store for us.
GOOD READ ON TRAVELING COUPLES
I found a good article regarding couples that travel. Click below to see:
